Buying & Ordering

What is the OmieBox UP designed for?

The OmieBox UP is specifically sized and engineered for bigger kid appetites, typically ages 9+ through high school. It can also be used by adults who need a smart, organized lunch solution.

What is the difference between the OmieBox and the OmieBox UP?

The primary difference is size. The OmieBox UP features a much larger built-in thermos (12 oz / 350 ml) that is 40% bigger than the original OmieBox, making it ideal for heartier meals and older kids.

Is the OmieBox UP leak-proof?

Yes, the box is designed with tight seals. The thermos is vacuum-insulated and fully leak-proof. The side compartments are leak-proof for thick foods like yogurt, hummus, or dips, but are not intended to hold thin liquids like water or soup outside of the thermos.

Usage & Performance (Hot/Cold System)

How long does food stay warm?

Food typically stays warm for up to 4 hours, which covers a standard school lunch period. For best results, follow the preheating steps below!

How do I make the food stay warm the longest?

Before adding food, preheat the stainless steel thermos. Fill it with boiling water for 5–10 minutes, then pour the water out. Immediately add piping hot food (like soup or chili) and seal quickly. Do not add warm or room-temperature food.

Can I pack liquids in the main side compartments?

No, never pack thin liquids (like water or broth) outside of the thermos. Only pack thick, creamy foods like yogurt, applesauce, or thick dips in the main side compartments. For all hot or cold liquids, always use the dedicated thermos.

Care, Cleaning & Safety

Is the OmieBox UP dishwasher safe?

Only the inner tray is top-rack dishwasher safe. The thermos, thermos lid, ice pack, and outer box must be hand washed with warm, soapy water to protect the seals and insulation.

How do I prevent mold/odours?

This is crucial: The gaskets and lid seals must be removed and cleaned after every single use and allowed to air dry completely before reassembling the box. Food particles trapped under the seals are the main cause of odours and mold.

Can I microwave or freeze the box?

No. **Do not put any part of the OmieBox UP in the microwave, freezer, oven, or on a stovetop.** Doing so will damage the leak-proof seals, void the warranty, and potentially damage the stainless steel thermos.
