While your Bluestone Sunshield provides UPF 50+ protection and blocks 99% of UV rays, we still recommend wearing sunscreen on exposed areas of skin for full coverage. The shield is an excellent physical barrier, pairing with sunscreen ensures you're protected from reflected and indirect UV rays as well.
All Bluestone Sunshields provide UPF 50+ protection and block 99.95% of UVB rays. However, the addition of tint and color finishes enhances UVA protection, offering an extra layer of defense against sun exposure.
If you're looking for the highest level of sun protection, we recommend choosing any of our coloured shields, followed by the black, and then the clear.

This is a voluntary set of technical regulations that we adhere to ensure our products meet the standards in safety and protection. These tests are complete by a 3rd party lab as well as we frequently do in-house testing to demonstrate how our products work.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. A rating of UPF 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, allowing less than 2% to pass through. In other words, it provides excellent protection against both UVA and UVB rays—helping to shield your skin from sunburn, premature aging, and long-term sun damage.
